GUEST,Pavane origins of arse trombone quote (11) origins of arse trombone quote 16 Nov 05

I recently heard a phrase used on the radio (BBC R2, Jonathon Ross) which sounded like a quotation. Does anyone know if that is so, and where it came from?

"Mr xxxxx, you have delighted us long enough with your playing on the arse trombone".
