Owlkat Seagull Guitars (28) RE: Seagull Guitars 05 Jan 00

Hi hi,
Well, even Martin has bad days, ya know.
Fact is, Seagull is one of the cheaper line of solid wood guitars from the Lasido Company in Quebec, Canada. (for those who didn't know). They also make Normand, Simon and Patrick, and Godin. I think Tradition might be theirs as well, but I'm not 100 percent sure without going to the website.
Simon and Patrick are generally quite lovely sounding solid wood acoustics, and the Godins are tres cool solid and hollow body electrics. Traditions are cheapoid.
I find Seagull necks a little clunky, and I prefer a glossy finish, but for the money, at least in Canada, it's hard to get a better sounding new guitar. The tops are solid wood, they put sealed tuners on them, the glueing is fairly good, and the finishing is good.
This is, of course, subjective, and slightly nationalistic, but my opinion is that you could do worse.
The smaller body "folk style" is pretty comfy for someone my size (compact) to play, and it's got a nice, funky, woodsy, chunky, sound to it.
Then again, go find one and play it. Try different models, since they make them with cedar, maple, apruce, and birch.
I'm done.
For now.
Cheers and bananas
