GUEST,Jim Ward Is there a folk club mafia ? (243* d) RE: Is there a folk club mafia ? 31 Mar 04

Richard Bridge - Who, exactly sneered at your friend for playing a guitar in Bob Copper's club? It certainly would not have been Bob or his family. Bob's one complaint was that so many people thought of them as 'folk purists'. Your posting tends to support this idea when in fact their musical tastes were very diverse. The family songbook, which is still in print, contains just the family songs, but Jim Copper's original songbook, on which it is based, contains all manner of popular songs including Music Hall comic songs, Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong, The Inkspots and many more, all mixed together.
