One of the reasons that most clubs are so dull is that decent musicians have abandoned them for bar sessions. The last time I was in the Cuckoo, Radley Green there were more participants than there were singers and audience combined at the last club guest night I went to. With regards to airplay I thought this was only avaible by competitive entry these days. And once you have had your 15 minutes of fame the next round of competition winners take their turn.
